Chihuahua Breeders for Dallas and Fort Worth Families

We plan each pairing ourselves, so we can tell you why a puppy's parents were matched and how big they are, which is where our adult weight estimates start. A seller who buys puppies in cannot tell you that.

The first weeks happen in our house: daily weigh-ins, the vet check, a microchip before go-home day, and plenty of handling so the puppy is used to people, household noise and being picked up. When a DFW family collects, the mother is there, and the puppy's weight log, vet record and AKC paperwork go home in the same bag. Questions before you make the drive? Call us on (646) 463-2052.

Chihuahuas for Sale Dallas TX: One Road South on I-35

The drive from the Metroplex is about as simple as Texas gets. From Dallas you take I-35E south, from Fort Worth I-35W south, and the two highways join at Hillsboro. After that it is a straight run through West and Waco to Temple.

The slow spot is Waco, especially on Friday afternoons and game days. A weekday or Saturday morning pickup usually keeps the whole trip under four and a half hours there and back.

Teacup Chihuahua Puppies for Sale in Dallas: The Two Hour Ride Home

Two hours is a comfortable trip for most of our puppies, including the teacup size ones, as long as they start it fed. We feed every puppy a small meal before it leaves us. For the drive north:

  • Bring a second person so someone can sit beside the carrier and talk to the puppy. Most of them fall asleep before Waco.
  • Offer water and a few bites of food if you stop, but there is no need to stop just for the puppy on a two hour drive.
  • Keep Nutri-Cal or glucose gel within reach. If the puppy goes limp or wobbly instead of sleepy, a pea-sized amount on the gums brings blood sugar back up within minutes.
  • Use the carrier, not a lap. A sudden stop on I-35 is the most common way small puppies get hurt in cars.

Our guide to low blood sugar in teacup Chihuahuas explains what to watch for in the first week.

Dallas and Fort Worth Vet Visits and Pet Registration

Book a DFW vet visit in the first three days and bring your puppy's record. Texas requires a rabies vaccine by 4 months of age, which your vet will fit into the puppy series. Rules on pet registration vary between Dallas, Fort Worth and the suburbs, so check with your own city. For the first night, our Chihuahua potty training schedule starts the routine we began with your puppy at home.

See every puppy side by side on our teacup Chihuahua puppies for sale page, or send the free adoption application and tell us you are coming from Dallas or Fort Worth.

Dallas and Fort Worth Chihuahua Puppy Questions

How long is the drive from Dallas to your Chihuahua breeder home?

About 2 hours from Dallas and a little less from Fort Worth, covering roughly 130 miles. You take I-35E from Dallas or I-35W from Fort Worth, the two meet at Hillsboro, and from there it is one straight run south through Waco to Temple. Traffic through Waco can add time on Friday afternoons.

Are there teacup Chihuahua puppies for sale near Dallas?

Our teacup size puppies are raised in Temple, a two hour drive from Dallas, and are listed with their age, price, current weight and projected adult weight. We place them by pickup so every family meets the puppy and its mother first. Teacup size puppies go home at 10 to 12 weeks, once they eat well on their own.

Is it worth driving two hours for a Chihuahua puppy?

For most Dallas families, yes. The drive lets you meet the mother, see where the puppy was raised and get its vet record and AKC paperwork in hand, which no online listing can give you. A Chihuahua lives 14 to 16 years, so four hours on the road is a small part of choosing the right one.
