Chihuahua Puppy Deposit and Refund Policy
A deposit holds your Chihuahua puppy for you and takes it off our available list. Here is exactly when it transfers, when we refund it, and how to pay safely.
We take a deposit only after your adoption application is approved and we have been in touch with you directly. The deposit is applied to the purchase price, and it reserves one specific puppy or a pick position in an upcoming litter. Once we accept it, we stop showing that puppy to other families.
Why Our Deposit Is Non-Refundable but Transferable
When a family reserves a puppy, we turn away other families who wanted the same one, sometimes for weeks. That is why the deposit is non-refundable. We also know plans change, so we never simply keep the money. If you cannot take your puppy, your deposit transfers to another available puppy or to a future litter, as long as it is used within 12 months of the original reservation. One transfer is allowed per deposit.
When We Refund Your Deposit in Full
- We cannot deliver the puppy you reserved, for any reason on our side.
- The puppy fails its vet check with our vet before going home, and you do not want to move the deposit to another puppy.
- A reserved litter is not born or has no puppy of the sex or coat you chose, and you prefer a refund over waiting.
Refunds are sent by the same payment method within 7 business days.
Balance Due Date
The remaining balance is due on or before pickup day. Flight delivery costs are paid with the balance. If the balance is not paid by 7 days after the agreed go-home date and you have not contacted us, we may treat the reservation as cancelled under the transfer terms above. See our Chihuahua puppy delivery options for travel costs.
Accepted Payment Methods
- PayPal Goods and Services, which gives you buyer protection
- Credit or debit card, through a secure payment link we send you
- Cash at pickup, for the balance only
Every payment gets a written receipt from contact@diamondchihuahuas.com showing the puppy's name, the amount and the balance left.
Protect Yourself From Puppy Scams
Fake Chihuahua listings are common because the breed is small, popular and easy to show in stolen photos. Our rule is simple:
- We never ask for payment by gift card, cryptocurrency or wire to a third party.
- We never ask for extra money for crates, insurance or shipping that you did not agree to in writing.
- Before you send anything, call or text (646) 463-2052. If someone contacts you from a different number using our name, it is not us.
- Visit and meet the puppy in person. We are happy to do one before you pay.
Our view: any breeder who will not answer your questions directly before collecting money should not get your deposit. Our guide to Chihuahua puppy scams shows the full list of warning signs and where to report a fake seller.
How This Fits With the Rest of Our Terms
The deposit is part of the puppy contract you sign, and your puppy is covered by our 1-year health guarantee from the day it goes home. Ready to choose? Browse our available Chihuahua puppies.
Chihuahua Puppy Deposit Questions
Is a Chihuahua puppy deposit refundable?
Our deposit is non-refundable, but it is transferable. If you change your mind or your plans change, we move it to another puppy or a future litter within 12 months. We refund it in full only if we cannot deliver the puppy you reserved, or if that puppy fails a vet check before going home. This protects families on our waitlist who stepped back for you.
How much is a deposit on a Chihuahua puppy?
We ask for a deposit to hold your puppy, and it comes off the puppy's full price. We confirm the amount with you before you pay anything. Pay it only after your adoption application is approved and we have been in touch with you directly from (646) 463-2052 or contact@diamondchihuahuas.com.
How do I know a Chihuahua breeder deposit is not a scam?
Call the breeder before paying and arrange to meet the puppy and its mother in person. We always do both. Red flags include payment requests by gift card, wire to a stranger, or crypto, a price far below the typical range, and refusal to let you visit. We will never ask for gift cards, and our only number is (646) 463-2052.
