Chihuahua Breeders for Ohio Families: A Home, Not a Kennel
We keep our breeding small on purpose: a few females who live in the house as family dogs, and only as many litters a year as we can raise properly while still weighing every puppy every day. Ohio has more high volume breeding kennels than most states, including in Amish country, and the state licenses them for that reason. The difference between those kennels and a home breeder shows most with a teacup puppy, because tiny puppies need someone watching how much they eat at every meal.
From the day you reserve, you can call or text us on (646) 463-2052 any time to ask how your puppy is doing.
Chihuahua Puppies for Sale Ohio: Flown to You or Collected
There are two ways, and both put your puppy in the hands of a person you have met, never a stranger or a cargo hold.
We fly it to you. One of us flies with your puppy in a soft carrier under the seat and meets you at your Ohio airport. You get our flight details the day before and a text when we land. At the handover we go over feeding, the potty routine and the signs of low blood sugar, then pass over the records and starter food.
Someone collects it for you. If a relative or friend is coming through Central Texas, they can collect your puppy from our home by appointment, meet the mother and get the full care walkthrough. Send us their name ahead of time and confirm in writing that they are collecting on your behalf.
Chihuahua Puppies for Sale in Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati
| Airport | Best for | Usual routing from Austin |
|---|---|---|
| Columbus (CMH) | Central Ohio, Dublin, Westerville | Direct or one connection |
| Cleveland (CLE) | Northeast Ohio, Akron, Canton | Usually one connection |
| Cincinnati (CVG) | Southwest Ohio, Dayton, Northern Kentucky | Usually one connection |
With a connection, the travel day is around five to six hours. That is fine for a puppy that eats well on its own, which is why our teacup size puppies only fly once they are 10 to 12 weeks old and holding their weight between meals. We feed during the layover and carry glucose gel the whole way.
Chihuahua Puppies in an Ohio Winter
Ohio winters are the biggest adjustment for a puppy raised in Texas. Have a fitted sweater ready on arrival day from November on, and keep the carrier covered between the terminal and the car. Most Ohio families we talk to use pee pads or a litter tray through the coldest weeks, then move outside in spring. Our Chihuahua potty training schedule shows how to switch without starting over.
Ohio requires a county dog license for dogs over 3 months, renewed every year. Book your vet in the first three days, bring the vet record we send, and ask about the rabies vaccine at the same time. Puppies are priced from $650 to $850; read the details on our puppy delivery page, then send the free adoption application and tell us which Ohio airport suits you.
Ohio Chihuahua Puppy Questions
Do you deliver Chihuahua puppies to Columbus, Ohio?
Yes. We fly with your puppy in the cabin and meet you in arrivals at John Glenn Columbus International. We also fly into Cleveland Hopkins and into Cincinnati's airport across the river in Kentucky. Depending on the day, the flight is direct or has one connection, and we pick the shortest routing for the puppy.
Does my Chihuahua puppy need a dog license in Ohio?
Yes. Ohio law requires every dog over 3 months old to have a county dog license, renewed each year through your county auditor, and most Ohio vets will also schedule the rabies vaccine around that age. We send your puppy's vet record and microchip number so you have everything the county and your vet ask for.
Is a smooth coat Chihuahua too cold for an Ohio winter?
Not if you plan for it. A smooth coat Chihuahua needs a fitted sweater or coat for every walk from November to March, short trips outside, and pee pads indoors for the coldest days. Long coats handle the cold a little better, but no Chihuahua should stay outside for long in an Ohio January.
